Azerbaijani MFA Responds to French President’s Claims

Baku: "The French President's yet another baseless claim against Azerbaijan and provocative statements that distort real facts are unacceptable," Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, stated in response to a media inquiry about the remarks made by the French President against Azerbaijan at the ambassadors' conference.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry criticizes France for positioning itself as a defender of international law while failing to address what it describes as Armenia's violations against Azerbaijan. These include ethnic cleansing, mass killings, and crimes against humanity. The Ministry emphasizes Azerbaijan's actions were in accordance with international law to reclaim its sovereign territories from Armenian occupation.

The Ministry condemned France for statements that question Azerbaijan's territorial sovereignty and accused France of preparing Armenia for possible revenge while contributing to the militarization of the region. The Ministry also criticized France for projecting its issues in overseas territories onto Azerbaijan, describing it as a manifestation of France's neo-colonial policies.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry urged France to cease actions that undermine regional stability and peace. This response comes after French President Emmanuel Macron's recent statements at the Ambassadors' Conference, where he accused Russia of supporting Azerbaijan against Armenia and criticized Azerbaijan's influence in French overseas territories.
