Baku: The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan has strongly condemned the resolution passed by the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies on November 20, labeling it as biased and unjust. The Azerbaijani Parliament, through its Press and Public Relations Department, has expressed categorical rejection of the claims and accusations directed towards Azerbaijan, highlighting the political adventurism of Luxembourg's legislative body. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the resolution is seen as a blatant disregard for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and a gross interference in its internal affairs. The Milli Majlis criticizes the resolution's stance on the extraordinary presidential elections held on February 7, 2024, asserting that the elections were conducted in full compliance with both national laws and international commitments. Azerbaijan's advancements in election practices have been acknowledged globally. The Azerbaijani Parliament also refutes the resolution's claims concerning arbitrary arrests and restrict ions on freedom of expression and assembly, arguing that these are based on significant distortions. It maintains that the arrests mentioned were legally justified, supported by solid evidence indicating violations of national laws, and followed appropriate legal procedures. Further, the allegations of political prisoners are dismissed as part of a campaign to undermine Azerbaijan's efforts in developing civil society and enhancing democratic processes. The declaration of 76 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, including those from Luxembourg, as 'personae non grata' is attributed to their support for actions that contradict Azerbaijan's objectives for peace and stability and demonstrate disregard for its territorial integrity. The Azerbaijani Parliament calls for the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies to engage in constructive dialogue based on mutual respect and international law. It urges the cessation of aggressive rhetoric and the adoption of resolutions that contradict the princ iples of parliamentary dialogue and diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of efforts to build trust and cooperation.
