"According to our calculations, there are nearly 1 million 167 thousand hectares of hazardous areas in Azerbaijan's liberated territories today," First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Bahruz Mammadov said during today's discussion of the draft law "On Mine Action" at Milli Majlis' Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption Committee meeting, APA reports. He noted that 14.2% of the area has been cleared over the past four years: "Sometimes they say that not all areas can be contaminated with mines. However, based on our assessments, deminers cannot say that any part of the liberated territories is free of mines. There is no such place in the liberated territories."
