Azerbaijan’s MES, Prosecutor General’s Office issue joint statement regarding discovery of body of one in rainwater-filled tunnel

The Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan have issued a joint statement, APA reports. The statement reads: "The body of one individual has been found in the flooded tunnel known as "Sabunchu Passage" in the capital. The body of Elnur Shirinov Fazil, born in 1976, was discovered during search and rescue operations carried out by the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the tunnel located on Asif Asadullayev Street in the Sabunchu district of Baku (named "Sabunchu Passage"), which was filled with rainwater. An investigation is underway at the Sabunchu District Prosecution Office regarding the incident. The forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are continuing to pump water from flooded areas, evacuate citizens in need of assistance, and implement other necessary safety measures. At the same time, we urge media representatives and social media users not to spread unverified information and to cite only the official statements from state authorities."
