Azerbaijan’s Parliament adopts draft law on “demining activities” in first reading

The draft law envisages the formation of an information system on demining activities by an authorized institution for the implementation of demining activities by physical persons and legal entities in Azerbaijan, the collection, management, and utilizing of information related to demining activities, and an assessment for the implementation of demining activities. Additionally, the draft establishes the directions of state policy in the field of anti-mine activities and defines the quality control procedures for demining operations. The law includes provisions for monitoring the quality of demining activities and evaluating the effectiveness of clearing dangerous areas in accordance with the established requirements and standard operating procedures. Requirements for demining activities in hazardous areas are also outlined in the document. The draft law was put to a vote and was adopted in the first reading. Source: Azeri-Press news agency
