Baku: The final hearing has been held in the criminal case of Emin Gasimzadeh, who was accused of committing crimes against the constitutional order in Azerbaijan, APA reports. Today, the verdict was announced during the trial at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Telman Huseynov.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Emin Gasimzadeh has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment. The indictment revealed that Gasimzadeh established secret contacts with official institutions of the Armenian side through social media accounts under his use. An investigation was conducted by the State Security Service due to his transfer of information intended to be used against the state security and interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Gasimzadeh is accused of committing treason by transmitting information to the Armenian side to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and state security of Azerbaijan. Additionally, he made open anti-state calls on social media accounts and engaged in activities aimed at inciting national hatred and hostility within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The indictment further details that Gasimzadeh fulfilled requests of individuals he contacted via social media and sent them photographs and other information from Shusha city and other locations. He was brought to criminal responsibility by the State Security Service and charged under Articles 274 (Treason), 281.2 (Public appeals against the state), and 283.1 (Actions aimed at inciting national hatred and hostility) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
