BAKU: The final statement has been signed between the Baku Initiative Group and Bonaire, Trend reports. The signing took place during an international conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the Movement for Human Rights and Change on Bonaire. 'Bonaire is seeking support from the international community to advocate for its registration as a non-self-governing territory to protect and ensure the right of the people of Bonaire to self-determination and self-governance,' the head of the Baku Initiative Group Abbas Abbasov said. Baku hosted an international conference dedicated to the island of Bonaire, which is under the colonial rule of the Netherlands. The event was organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the Movement for Human Rights and Change on Bonaire Island. The conference titled 'Path to Bonaire's Self-Determination at the UN General Assembly through Baku Initiative Group' was attended by representatives of the Bonaire people fighting colonialism and seeking liberation, as well as officials and representatives from Belize, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, St. Lucia, Great Britain, Mexico, the Netherlands, the UN, and other international and regional organizations.
