The ceremonial foundation laying event for a barley processing plant, designated for the production of beer, took place on August 8 within the precincts of the Imishli sugar factory. This ambitious project has garnered an investment outlay totaling 25 million manats. The financial backing for this endeavor is set to be sourced from various entities. The "Azerbaijan Investment Company," operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Economy, will contribute 24% of the requisite funds. Concurrently, "Azersun Holding" and "Azerk?r," both affiliated with "Pasha Holding," will jointly provide 38% each. Leveraging Swiss technology, the plant is poised to be an avant-garde establishment within the South Caucasus region. In its initial phase, the plant will process 11,000 tons of beer barley annually, with projected expansion to 17,000 tons in subsequent stages. Moreover, the project is set to create stable employment opportunities for around 50 individuals. The plant's core objective resides in catering to domestic beer production requisites, while concurrently nurturing ambitions for exports. The anticipated market reach encompasses countries like Georgia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, bolstered by the establishment of the new processing facility. Scheduled to commence operations in January 2024, this upcoming plant for processing barley earmarked for beer production will significantly contribute to Azerbaijan's brewing landscape. The country currently hosts an array of local beer producers, with Carlsberg Group emerging as a key player within Azerbaijan's beer manufacturing sphere. Notably, beer production in Azerbaijan witnessed substantial growth from January to September 2022, registering a total of 3,775.7 thousand decaliters.1.147 million tons of barley were harvested in Azerbaijan in 2022.--
