Because of coronavirus Turkmenistan Airlines cancel all flights to Bangkok, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur

Because of the coronavirus Turkmenistan Airlines have cancelled all flights to Bangkok, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur until 1 April, 2020, the twitter account of the airlines said on 6 February, 2020.

On 31 January, 2020 the website of the airline informed that flight to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur were suspended until 29 March following the decision of the Research Council under the Centre for prevention of the spread of atypical pneumonia bacteria in Turkmenistan.

On 6 February Turkmenistan Airlines reported that the flight Ashgabat-Bangkok-Ashgabat will be performed on 9 February to transport passengers from Bangkok.

On 20 January, 2020 the sessionof the Extraordinary Disease Control Commission was held to address the prevention, spread and protection of the state territory from viral diseases.

On 30 January, 2020, PresidentGurbanguly Berdymukhammedov personally held the meeting devoted to the anti-viral campaign.

Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairsalso reported the intensified measures which are being undertaken to combat the spread of the virus.

The flights of Turkmenistan Airlines bound to Beijing and Bangkok were cancelled until April at the earliest, the news outlet Turkmen news reportedon 2 February, 2020.

On 3 February, 2020 Turkmenistan closed the border with Uzbekistan.

The Turkmenistan nationals returning from China are currently being placed under quarantine.

638 people died of the novel virus. According to the Chinese authorities, over 31 thousand people have been diagnosed with the disease.
