At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported on the preparation of the draft National Program of Turkmenistan for the Aral Sea.
According to the state information agency TDH , the document, which was prepared by a special Interdepartmental Commission, consists of eight sections and defines the main directions of action to improve the socio-economic and environmental situation in the Aral region.
The program covers the modernization of domestic land and water legislation, the implementation of preventive measures taking into account the impact of natural factors and the improvement of the quality of medical services , the improvement of the system of management and use of water resources, the formation of forest zones and the protection of biodiversity.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the draft Aral Sea Program and instructed the Foreign Minister to continue work in this direction.
In January, the head of state was presented a project for the construction of an International Scientific and Clinical Center for Physiology, which, among other things, is planned to study the negative impact of the Aral zone on health.
In September 2020, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered the construction of a Scientific and Clinical Center for Virology, Bacteriology and Epidemiology in the Bagabat village of the Ak Bugday etrap, which will study the negative impact of the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis on the region's natural environment and public health.
It should be noted that the mask regime and other preventive measures were introduced in Turkmenistan, allegedly due to the negative impact of the dust brought from the Aral Sea zone.
