On September 27, Turkmenistan celebrated the 30th anniversary of the country's independence.

In the morning, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and officials laid flowers at the Independence Monument. The ceremony was also attended by diplomats and foreign guests ,

Then a parade began at the new rostrum.

The president opened a new podium near the southern outskirts of Ashgabat, worth $ 109.3 million, on September 16. Its construction was carried out by the French company Bouygues, whose head, Martin Bouygues, came to Turkmenistan to personally congratulate Berdymukhamedov on the 30th anniversary of independence.

Unlike previous years, this time Berdymukhamedov drove up to the podium and received the report of the Secretary of the State Security Council Charmyrat Amanov in a white Gelendvagen converted for this case.

During the parade, weapons of various types of troops and military equipment were demonstrated.

After the parade, an Akhal-Teke soldier in jewelry was taken to the square . The horse born in 2018 is named in honor of the independence of Garashsyz (Independent). It was presented to the President by his comrades-in-arms "as a sign of deep, sincere gratitude for tireless work in the name of the prosperity of the Fatherland, happiness and well-being of the people." Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov descended from the podium, saddled his horse and made a circle of honor to the applause of the audience,

After that, the riders of the group of national equestrian games "Galkynysh" performed, and then collectives of the country's organizations and institutions marched across the square.

The celebration ended with a song "dedicated to the era of power and happiness, the great Arkadag and Turkmenistan." After that, a drone show and festive fireworks took place in the sky over the square.

Until 2018, the Independence Day of Turkmenistan was celebrated on October 27, but in 2017, after a meeting of the Council of Elders, for an unnamed reason, it was decided to postpone the holiday a month earlier. Numerous articles in the state Turkmen press dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan say that by the decision of the Council, it was decided to celebrate Independence Day on September 27, but the reasons are not named anywhere. This day in the history of the country is remarkable only for the fact that on September 27, 2017, the closing ceremony of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was held.
