On April 29, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov , who is responsible for construction, industry and energy, and also in charge of Ashgabat, made a report on the work.
According to the TDH , Purchekov recalled the creation in February of the State Agency for Road Construction Management (the successor to the state concern Türkmenawtoýollary (Turkmen Highways)), which includes 18 enterprises, and spoke about the financial side of road construction: cost analysis, search reliable sources of financing, holding tenders for the purchase of technical equipment and spare parts through preferential bank loans.
The Deputy Prime Minister proposed to define new calculation and estimate standards for the construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance of the proper condition of highways.
Turkmenistan strives to become a transit hub for international cargo transportation. Among other things, for this purpose, two autobahns Turkmenabat-Ashgabat ( worth $2.3 billion) and Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi are being built in the country.
President Serdar Berdymukhammedov approved of work on reforming the pricing system, but expressed dissatisfaction with Purchekov's work in other areas.
According to the head of state, the vice-premier has loosened control over the work of the Ashgabat khyakimlik. Public transport in the capital does not work well, some facilities and residential buildings need to be repaired, and there are dried trees in squares and along the streets, the president said.
To solve these problems, Berdymukhamedov gave Purchekov a week's time.
