On October 26, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inspected the construction of the cultural and park complex Makhtumkuli Fraghi, in the center of which a monument to the poet is being built, on the southwestern outskirts of Ashgabat, the state information agency TDH reported .
Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev, who is in charge of the agro- industrial complex, reported on the land plots designated for planting tree seedlings and their types. Judging by the footage of the TV report, the garden will be divided into sections, for which separate ministries and departments will be responsible.
The head of state got acquainted with the submitted projects and drawings, made a number of comments and made his own corrections. The President ordered that the seedlings planned for planting correspond to the soil and climatic conditions of the southern corner of the capital .
“In this area, during the autumn gardening campaign, it is necessary to plant scientifically proven tree saplings,” the head of state ordered. It should be reminded that during the spring action, the President and Deputy Prime Ministers planted seedlings near the Karakum hotel under construction.
Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov, who oversees the construction, industrial and energy complex, presented the general plan of the complex (with a total area of 13.5 hectares), projects and drawings of facilities under construction there, as well as paths and lighting systems leading to it.
The head of state instructed to announce a tender for the improvement of the complex, as well as to highlight the lines of Fraghi's poems placed on the hills with the help of lighting equipment . The next day (October 27), the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper published an announcement that "the Ashgabat city administration announces a tender for the improvement of the Magtymguly Pyragy cultural and park complex." Applications are accepted until November 27.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recalled that 70 objects for various purposes have already been opened this year. As for the complex, its construction should be completed in 2022, and the opening is timed to coincide with the annual Culture Week on the occasion of the Day of Workers of Culture and Art, as well as the poetry of Makhtumkuli Fraghi (celebrated on June 27).
“In 2024, the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi will be celebrated. The opening of the complex next year will kick off grandiose celebrations in honor of the outstanding classic. In addition, we will declare 2024 the Year of Makhtumkuli Fraghi, ”the President said.
In the summer of 2017, the president ordered to move the monument to Makhtumkuli Fraghi. However, in the end, it was not moved, but a new one was built according to the design of the sculptor Saragt Babayev on a hill in the foothills of the Kopetdag, not far from the Health Path.
In January of this year, the President was informed about the preparations for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. It was reported that a website dedicated to the life and work of the poet, as well as the electronic "Encyclopedia of Makhtumkuli Fragi" and "Divan (collection) of Makhtumkuli Fragi" will be created for the upcoming anniversary in 2024.
On January 29, Deputy Prime Minister for Culture and Media Myahrijemal Mammedova reported to the head of state on preparations for the opening of a new monument. Then the TDH wrote that the 60-meter monument (which, according to the TDH, took "about a thousand tons of bronze") will be opened on June 27, 2021, on the Day of Workers of Culture and Art, as well as the poetry of Makhtumkuli Fragi.
In September of this year, Berdymukhamedov approved the shade of the monument, and in March, the design of the sculpture, lamp posts, benches and trash cans in the surrounding area, as well as the railings on the stairs leading to the monument.
