BP: In 2021, Turkmenistan increased oil production by 15.5%, and gas – by 20.4%

In 2021, Turkmenistan increased oil production by 15.5%, and gas production by 20.4%, according to the report of the transnational oil and gas company BP ("BP") Statistical Review of World Energy 2022.

In total, last year the country produced 12 million tons of oil (0.3% of world production) and 79.3 billion cubic meters of gas (2% of world production).

For comparison, gas production in other CIS countries in 2021 amounted to: Russia - 701.7 billion cubic meters. (17.4% of world production), Uzbekistan - 50.9 billion cubic meters. (1.3%), Kazakhstan - 32 billion cubic meters. (0.8%), Azerbaijan - 31.8 billion cubic meters. (0.8%).

Domestic gas consumption in Turkmenistan in 2021 increased by 24.2% and amounted to 36.7 billion cubic meters.

At the same time, carbon dioxide emissions also increased by 19.3% and amounted to 94.3 million tons.

Electricity production increased by 5.4% and amounted to 27.9 Terawatt-hours (27.9 million megawatt-hours).
