“His mother died with her eyes on the road. She also wanted very much wanted for at least a single piece of him to be found. She passed away with this heavy pain,” resident of Yuxari Yaglivend village of Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district and wife of Ali Huseynov Heydar’s brother told APA.
Ali Huseynov went missing in August 6, 1993 in Govshalti village of Fuzuli district. One of the remains of the bodies found in the area of Khojavand district’s Edilli village belonged to him.
His relatives currently living in Beylagan said that Ali, who joined the fighting group formed from the first day of I Garabagh War initially fought for his home village Yaglivend’s defense.
“We were always waiting for his return as well. They always went and returned with success. It was very difficult, there were frequent attacks on our village. He participated in every battle. He was a very brave boy; he was a hero. He was always one of the sons going forwards in the battles. He went for the battles in August of 1993 and didn’t return. From that day to this day, we have been looking for him, but no news has come out. Coincidentally, we received news of him during Muharram (first month of the Islamic calendar). In this day when the prophets are remembered, he, too became an angel and ascended to heaven. His news reached us on these months. We rejoiced. His mother passed away waiting his return.
Mushfiq Huseynov, Ali’s brother said that they were informed of the compatibility of the analyzes in mid-August: "Two or three days later, it was announced to the media that Huseynov Ali's remains were indeed found."
According to Mushfiq Huseynov, during the days his brother joined the I Garabagh war, National Army was not formed yet: “A battalion was formed in the village later. Their positions were mainly in the directions of Divanalilar (village). But there was an attack in August of 1993. My brother was in the fight along with his division and the operation was carried out successfully”.
But Ali Huseynov, who joined other battles carried out in the mentioned direction after this successful operation, does not return: “Ali went with not his own division but other men in another battle organized on the morning of the offensive operation and did not return. It was said that a mine has exploded there and he was neutralizing the mine. We couldn’t get any news after that night. We have always searched till this day. Our eyes were on the road. We were looking in everywhere. In 2009 my mother, and in 2014 my father passed away waiting for his return.”
Mushfiq Huseynov was stated that they will be given the remains of his brother’s body in the coming days.
His relative Davud Mammadov stated that Ali Huseynov joined the battles voluntarily: “He didn’t return from the last fight, neither his death nor aliveness were known. We heard yesterday that among the bodies of our 15 martyrs in the village of Edilli, there is also the body of my relative Ali Huseynov. We were children then. One day, we heard that Ali went to the battle and went missing. We were searching till this day, but never found. Thanks to our government, his body was found. Now we’re waiting for it to be handed over, so we will take it and bury it ourselves."
Note that since November of 2020, about 500 human body remains were found and taken in the liberated territories. 15 of them have already been identified.
