Nine candidates for the post of President of Turkmenistan took part in the voting. According to tradition, they were among the first to come to the polling stations, which opened on voting day at 7 am.
Noting that all opponents in the current election campaign are worthy and respected people, the candidates for the highest state post stated that they are united by a common goal - to make a significant contribution to large-scale transformations in Turkmenistan.
Candidate Perhat Begendzhov voted at polling station No. 50 of the city of Turkmenabad, Agadzhan Bekmyradov - at polling station No. 6 of Vekilbazar etrap (district) of Mary velayat (region), Serdar Berdimuhamedov - at polling station No. 48 of Kopetdag etrap of Ashgabat city, Berdimammet Gurbanov - at polling station No. 2 of Avaza etrap of the Balkan velayat, Babamyrat Meredov - in section No. 79 of the S. A. Niyazov etrap of the Dashoguz velayat, Khydyr Nunnaev - in the section No. 63 of the Kopetdag etrap of the city of Ashgabat, Maksat Odeshov - in the section No. 3 of the S. Turkmenbashi etrap of the Dashoguz velayat, Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiyev - on section No. 9 of the Babadaykhan etrap of the Akhal velayat and Kakageldi Sariyev - at section No. 36 of the city of Mary.
According to the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, the Central Election Commission, no later than on the seventh day after the elections, sums up the results of the elections, draws up a protocol and announces the results of the elections. The candidate who received more than half of the votes of the voters who took part in the voting will be declared the elected president of Turkmenistan. The President of Turkmenistan is elected directly by the people of the country for a period of seven years and takes office from the moment he takes the oath. The inauguration of the new president of the country will take place on March 19.
