In the first quarter of this year, cargo airlines of Azerbaijan transported 83.000 tons of cargo, 98.5% of which accounted for international destinations. At the same time, the volume of cargo transportation decreased by 69.700 tons or 45.6% as compared to the appropriate period of 2022, the State Statistics Committee reports. It should be remembered that airline revenues from cargo transportation amounted to 548.7 million manats. This is down by 37.4% from January-March last year. At that, revenues from domestic transportation amounted to 253.000 manats per 1 ton, and from international destinations - 6,705 AZN/ton. There are two cargo airlines operating in Azerbaijan (Silk Way Airlines and Silk Way West Airlines), which are a part of the Silk Way Group. The Group has not yet commented on the reasons for the significant reduction in cargo turnover. In 2022, the group worsened its position in the global freight market. The volume of traffic, according to the SSC of Azerbaijan, dropped from 557.000 tons (2021) to 406.000 tons. -08B-
