Key issues of the development of the Turkmen-Turkish partnership were discussed during a telephone conversation by the national leader of the Turkmen people, chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Shentop.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed deep condolences to the fraternal Turkish people in connection with the strong devastating earthquake that occurred on February 6 in the southeastern region of the country.
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to expanding cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, which is one of the priority vectors of interstate cooperation. It was noted that representatives of Turkish business are effectively working in various segments of the economy of Turkmenistan, the volume of bilateral trade is growing from year to year, and the Republic of Turkey is one of the leading trade partners of Turkmenistan.
Energy, transport, communications, investments, trade, agriculture and the textile industry were named among the most promising sectors of bilateral partnership.
Also during the conversation, issues of expanding cooperation in culture, science and education were discussed.
