China is ready to further strengthen strategic ties with Turkmenistan, including deepening practical military cooperation in various fields, as well as helping to build a closer community between the two countries. This was announced on March 25 by a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe , the Chinese Ministry of Defense reports on its website.
The statement was made during a video call with the Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan , Begench Gundogdyev . Wei Fenghe noted that there is progress in bilateral military cooperation in such areas as high-level interaction, professional exchanges and personnel training.
“China attaches great importance to relations with Turkmenistan and will always be a close friend and reliable partner of the Central Asian country, no matter how the international situation changes ,” the minister said.
In turn, Gundogdyev noted that Turkmenistan will continue to strengthen bilateral trade and economic exchanges and cooperation in defense matters, as well as improve relations between the two countries and their armed forces.
The Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan does not report on the negotiations. The latest news on the site is dedicated to the participation of the new President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in planting seedlings on March 21.
In July 2021, Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Yi promised Turkmenistan "traditional and non-traditional" support to protect the country's state security "in connection with the development of the situation in Afghanistan."
