Bishkek, June 16, 2023. / Kabar /. Zhusubali Toromamatov, Trade Representative under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan in China, took part in the First International Energy Forum in Qingdao (Shandong Province, China) as part of the SCO Industrial and Supply Chain Forum. As part of the forum, the trade representative of the Ministry of Economic Commerce made a presentation on the prospects of the Kyrgyz Republic in the energy sector. In particular, he expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the SCO Pilot Zone, the Shandong Port Corporation and the China Overseas Enterprise Development Association for participating in such a significant event - the First International Energy Forum in Qingdao. He noted that Kyrgyzstan is the core of Central Asia and one of the important transport hubs of the Silk Road Economic Belt: the country borders on Kazakhstan in the north, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the west, and China in the east. The territory of Kyrgyzstan is 95% of the mountain mass, so the country is rich in water resources. Today, Kyrgyzstan produces 15 billion kWh of hydropower per year, but this is only 1/10 of the country's total hydropower potential. Through the efficient use of resources and technology, it is possible to generate 142 billion kWh of hydropower per year. “China is an important trading partner for Kyrgyzstan and the largest consumer of energy products. In order to effectively promote trade and economic ties between China and the SCO countries, Kyrgyzstan considers it necessary to create an International Energy Trade Center, which will become a guarantee and information platform, as well as an operational solution for finance, settlements, logistics and customs,” Toromamatov emphasized. He also called on representatives of the Chinese side and other forum participants to invest in the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan.
