Chinese companies interested in construction of solar power in Issyk-Kul

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov held a meeting via videoconference with representatives of China Power International Development Limited (CPID) and China Railway 20 Bureau Group Corporation (CR20G) to discuss the details of the project for the construction of a 1 GW solar power plant, the press service of the Cabinet reported. During the meeting, a presentation of the construction of a solar power plant was presented. The head of the Cabinet noted that a number of reforms are ongoing in the country to restructure and ensure the sustainable development of the energy system, including within the framework of the development of renewable energy sources and solar energy. 'This project is very important to us. About 70% of the republic's hydropower potential remains unrealized, while we continue to import electricity,' he said. A solar power plant with a capacity of 1 GW is planned to be build in Issyk-Kul Oblast. The interest in its construction was expressed by the Chinese energy consortium as part of China Power International Development Limited and China Railway 20 Bureau Group Corporation.
