The government has sent a delegation led by First Deputy Director of National Security Cho Tae-yong to the U.S. for meetings with the transition team of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
Just before his departure on Wednesday, Cho told reporters at the airport that the team is going to meet key figures of the Trump camp.
The presidential aide said that the delegation will explain the significance of continuing Seoul and Washington's joint pressure on the North Korean regime.
Cho added that the delegations will also help Trump officials understand the win-win nature of the economic ties between South Korea and the U.S.
