After the meeting, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Asia, head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Natalya German, gave a brief overview of the results of the center's work over the past five years:
- Today I say goodbye to hospitable Turkmenistan. We just had a meeting with the honorable Friend. I was also received by the President of Turkmenistan yesterday. With these meetings, my 5-year tenure as the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Asia and the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia is completed.
These years were a period of effective work, development of new initiatives, strengthening of existing forms of regional cooperation. Of course, it marked the moment of great cooperation between me and my colleagues from the regional center with our Turkmen partners.
White marble Ashgabat has been home to the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia for 15 years now. During this period, we felt tremendous support, especially from the honorable Friend. Dear Friend, when I started working in this position, he was leading the country, and the honorable Mr. President pays great attention to our work and always supports the initiatives and proposals of the regional center. I would like to note with satisfaction that neutral Turkmenistan has been a reliable partner of the United Nations during the years of independence.
The Turkmen side very skillfully and actively uses the dialogue platforms offered by the UN to develop its cooperation relations. During the years of independence, Turkmenistan acted as the author of 20 successful and unanimous resolutions of the international community and the UN General Assembly. In this regard, I would like to emphasize the initiatives and proposals that contribute to the strengthening of international peace and security. Today, we discussed with Honorable Arkadag about the declaration of 2021 as the "Year of International Peace and Trust" on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people. On the initiative of Turkmenistan, 2023 was declared the "International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace". In fact, these two international pioneers of peace-loving philosophies, It is an expression of a non-confrontational approach to solving controversial issues. These initiatives are also compatible with the concept of preventive diplomacy. Because neutrality and preventive diplomacy are one and the same concept.
Today, I expressed my gratitude to Honorable Arkady for this very philosophy - the culture of peace, which formed the basis of many activities and initiatives carried out not only in Turkmenistan and the Central Asian region, but throughout the world. Of course, it should be noted that together with the Honorable Arkadag and the Speaker of the Mejlis, we have prepared the proposal to establish a dialogue of women of Central Asian countries. This initiative was launched in December 2020 and this dialogue is already running successfully for the third year.
Allow me to express my gratitude for inviting representatives of women's dialogue during the third consultative meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian countries in Avaza! Thus, in 2021, two important forums were held in Avaza, including the dialogue of women of Central Asian countries. This principle is becoming more and more a noble tradition, and when the Heads of other countries of the region are holding high-level meetings, they invite women - representatives of all Central Asian countries, and offer to contribute and share their initiatives.
I would like to emphasize that Turkmenistan continues to promote effective initiatives within the framework of the policy of positive neutrality. As I have already said, it should be noted that several recommendations have been implemented in the field of peace and security, as well as energy security. We actively worked with the leaders and the Government of Turkmenistan in this area. These initiatives were supported by the Central Asian countries and created a great response in the world community. Finally, I would like to highlight the initiatives and proposals aimed at the development of transport and trade interconnections, and the increase of trade turnover between the Central Asian states and all countries bordering this region. In recent years, the Central Asian region has experienced exceptional growth. In this region, the events that bring the fraternal peoples of the Central Asian states closer are spreading at a high pace. Such a positive situation makes it possible to solve all the important issues of the agenda. In this way, various threats and threats to national and regional stability and security can be prevented.
My colleagues and I have been in Turkmenistan for five years and have really felt great support. In a few days, I am leaving the hospitable Turkmenistan, and my heart is full of gratitude to the people of Turkmenistan, to the Honorable Arkady and the President of the country, to my colleagues in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who have worked closely with me.
I will always visit hospitable Turkmenistan with great pleasure. In conclusion, I wish the leaders of Turkmenistan and the entire Turkmen people peace, prosperity, happiness and prosperity.
