Constitutional Commission established in Turkmenistan

On September 25, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree establishing the Constitutional Commission to develop and summarize proposals in connection with amendments and additions to the Constitution.

According to the state news agency TDH , the commission is tasked with developing and submitting proposals in connection with amendments and additions to the Constitution.

The head of state proposed to the Constitutional Commission in 2020 to submit for consideration by the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan proposals for improving the activities of the parliament.

Recall that earlier on the same day at the Council of Elders Berdimuhamedov decided to merge the Council and the Mejlis into a single bicameral representative body. Corresponding changes should be made to the Constitution and presented a year later at the next meeting of the Council.
