On January 24, the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat posted an announcement in which it recalled that “the only air carrier for charter flights organized by the Embassy is S7 Airlines.” The announcement was made “due to abuse by private legal entities “.
The report also notes that “tickets for these flights are sold exclusively by official representatives of the airline in the office in Ashgabat (A. Niyazov St., 174) and at check-in desks at the Turkmenabat airport on the day before departure.”
“Applicants are requested not to apply to other travel companies that offer services for booking tickets and arranging transit to the final destination in Russia. These organizations do not have relevant information and intentionally mislead passengers ,” the diplomatic mission emphasizes.
In December 2021, the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan created an online waiting list function for those wishing to fly out of Turkmenistan on export flights. As the Consular Department explained, this is done so that people can sign up for free and without intermediaries.
In early January, a reader of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” reported that the size of the bribe for a seat on export flights from Turkey to Turkmenistan reaches $5,000.
