Cotton growers instructed to help Akhal velayat to finish the cotton harvesting campaign first

Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan have found out that on 15 August the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection hosted a meeting which brought together khyakims (executives) of all Turkmen velayats (provinces).

At the start of the meeting Minister Magtymguly Bairamdurdyevarticulated his standard statements that efforts needed to be undertaken to fulfill the cotton harvest plan and then launch preparations for the wheat sowing campaign. However, later the meeting participants were informed that Akhal velayat, headed by the President's son Serdar Berdymukhammedov, should be first to execute the plan targets. The remaining velayats are obliged to provide the human resources needed.

As was announced, in late August each family of farmers from other country's provinces is scheduled to send one adult to help harvest cotton in Akhal velayat for a month at their own expense. If needed, additional workforce will be further attracted.
