The harvest of cotton, the main agricultural crop of the country's agro-industrial complex, has started in Turkmenistan. By tradition, the elders collected the first, symbolic boxes, wishing the farmers a rich harvest of "white gold".
This year, Turkmen cotton growers will have to harvest 1,250,000 tons of raw cotton from an area of 580,000 hectares. In general, 1,600 combines will be used for harvesting across the country. 7,800 vehicles will transport the harvested cotton to 158 collection points. The processing of the new crop of raw cotton into cotton fiber will be carried out at 39 cotton ginning enterprises of Akhal, Lebap, Mary and Balkan velayats (regions) of Turkmenistan.
