Cotton sowing under portraits of new president begins in Turkmenistan

On March 23, the cotton growers of Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats started sowing. Farmers of the Dashoguz velayat will start sowing on March 30, the state information agency TDH reports .

The footage of the TV report shows that the sowing campaign was already carried out under the portraits of the new president, Serdar Berdimuhamedov .

Agronomists and mullahs, who started the sowing, thanked both the hero Arkadag and the new head of state for taking care of agriculture.

The sowing schedule was approved by then-president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a cabinet meeting on March 10 .

This year, 580,000 hectares of land will be sown, it is planned to produce 1,250,000 tons of cotton, including 280,000 tons in Akhal velayat, 10,000 tons in Balkan velayat, 275,000 tons in Dashoguz velayat, and 320,000 tons in Lebap velayat , Mary velayat - 365 thousand tons.

According to the TDH, 1,708 tractors and seeders, as well as 5,517 cotton cultivators and other agricultural equipment will be used in this year's campaign. 485 biolaboratories will provide farmers with bioproducts that are used against cotton pests.

Recall that in December it became known that in 2022 the area for growing cotton will be reduced by 40,000 hectares: from 620,000 to 580,000 hectares. The collection plan will not change. According to Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev , who is in charge of the agro-industrial complex , it will be carried out "by increasing the yield" of cotton.
