Danish-residing Azerbaijani scientist awarded medal for contributions (PHOTO)

BAKU: The State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan presented a medal to Professor of Neurology at the University of Copenhagen, Head of the International Headache Society, Director of the Migraine Association Professor Masud Ashina, Trend reports. The committee's chairman, Fuad Muradov, welcomed the guest and highlighted the significant role of the Azerbaijani diaspora in fostering bilateral relations between the two countries. 'It was noted that the Azerbaijani communities abroad receive considerable attention from President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. Expressing his deep gratitude for the recognition from the Azerbaijani state, Ashina affirmed his commitment to protecting the national interests of his homeland abroad and to integrating Azerbaijani youth into the global scientific community. Ashina was awarded the jubilee medal "100 years of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)", which he was awarded by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for his services in diaspora activities. By the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 8, 2020, Masud Ashina was elected a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation "YASAT". Masud Ashina was the President of the Danish Headache Association, Secretary General of the European Headache Federation, and President of the International Headache Association from 2019 to 2021. In 2019, Ashina's research received a substantial grant of pound 4 million from the Lundbeck Foundation Professorship for advancements in headache treatment methods.
