School teachers and other public sector employees of Dashoguz velayat have been requested to pay their gas bills.
Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan report that on 25 July an announcement was made in all schools of the province that educators and maintenance staff need to provide gas consumption record books to school administrations and certificates from Dashoguz gas department or its etrap offices proving payments.
Despite the fact that the majority of teachers are now on their annual leave, they and their relatives are summoned to schools where apart from payment slips, an additional 200 manats need to be paid as prepayment.
A similar situation is being observed in other organizations. Even those who work on a rotation basis in other provinces of the country are being summoned.
Chronicles of Turkmenistan reported that on 7 July all employed residents of the velayat were warned that gas supply would be cut off in case debts were not settled. The announcement was made after President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov had charged Chairperson of the Supreme Control Chamber Gadyrgeldi Mushshikov with the task of exercising regular control over the collection of payments for public utilities bills.
