The Day of the Caspian Sea, which has already become traditional for the Caspian countries, was celebrated in the Avaza national tourist zone on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea.
The central event of the holiday was the scientific and practical conference "The Caspian Sea - the Sea of Friendship and Consent", organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Topical issues of the Caspian problems were put on the agenda of the forum - the development of political, economic, scientific, environmental and humanitarian cooperation between the coastal countries. The discussion was attended by representatives of the embassies of the Caspian states accredited in Turkmenistan, international organizations - the UN, the OSCE, the European Union, as well as heads and specialists of a number of Turkmen ministries and departments.
In speeches at the conference, the Sixth Caspian Summit held this year in Ashgabat was given a high appraisal. In this regard, an exchange of views took place on the practical implementation of the decisions taken at it and the voiced initiatives. It was emphasized that today the Caspian states are working on documents on cooperation in ensuring the safety of navigation, in the field of search and rescue operations in the Caspian, to combat illegal fishing of aquatic biological resources, water use and marine scientific research.
The speeches also emphasized the importance of holding the current meeting on the eve of the transport conference of landlocked developing countries, which will also be held at Avaza. In this regard, it was noted that the Caspian basin is an important strategic region with a huge economic, energy and transport potential.
The program of the Day of the Caspian Sea also included cultural and sports events. Among them are competitions in various sports, in which children and schoolchildren of the city of Turkmenbashi took part. And the holiday ended with a concert of artists of the State Drama Theater of the Balkan velayat (region) and students of children's art schools.
