Delegation of Turkmenistan takes part in the 30th Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, which is being held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
At the anniversary Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, which will be held until July 4 of this year, the delegations discuss topical issues related to the activities of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, as well as issues on the implementation of the sustainable development goals of UN on ocean science, deepening cooperation with the UN and the World Meteorological Organization, the contribution of the Commission and member states in the implementation of the UN Convention on Climate Change.
The session will also consider a wide range of issues related to the study and development of ocean resources for the benefit of humanity.
One of the most important issues to be considered in the framework of the Assembly is the International Decade of Ocean Sciences. The proposal for an International Decade for Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (20212030) under the auspices of the United Nations was put forward by the IOC of UNESCO under the motto Towards the ocean needed for the future we want.
