At a Cabinet meeting on February 3, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on the establishment of the State Agency for Management of the Construction of Highways.
On February 7, the head of state appointed Serdargeldi Yolamanov , who previously held the position of deputy khyakim of Ashgabat, as the chairman of the new department.
The creation of the new agency was preceded by an investigation by the Prosecutor General's Office, the results of which were reported at a meeting on January 24 by Prosecutor General Batyr Atdaev . It showed that in connection with the transfer of road construction equipment to the jurisdiction of khyakimliks, the level of road construction work throughout the country has decreased.
