Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan for agro-industrial complex went to Tashkent to share water resources and increase trade

On September 13-14, a Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev, who is in charge of the agro- industrial complex, was in Tashkent, where it took part in a meeting of joint commissions.

On September 13, the first meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Water Management Issues was held. The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Ganiev .

The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the operation of water facilities and the use of water resources of the Amu Darya River, as well as the use of water facilities on the territory of the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports .

On September 14, Tashkent hosted the sixteenth meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation. The Uzbek side was represented by the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov .

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation and industrial cooperation, strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, transport and transit.

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reported that 160 enterprises with the participation of Turkmen capital operate in the country , and the volume of trade between the two countries in the first half of this year increased by 20% compared to the same period last year. However, its exact figure has not been specified.

The officials agreed to work out projects for the creation of industries in the agro-industrial complex, textile, leather and footwear industries, production of cars, electrical appliances and building materials.

Agreements were also reached to bring the volume of Uzbek-Turkmen trade to $ 1 billion in the near future , develop and adopt a Roadmap for the development of industrial cooperation and complete the approval of a draft Agreement on the creation and regulation of the Uzbek-Turkmen border trade zone.

At the end of the meeting, the protocol of the 16th meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen IGC was signed.

On the same day, Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev was received by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev . The official informed the head of state about the results of the meetings of the joint intergovernmental commissions, according to the website of the head of state.

President Mirziyoyev noted the importance of careful and comprehensive preparation of the upcoming summit in Uzbekistan and the formation of a rich agenda.

On September 6, the state information agency TDH reported that during the upcoming visit of a government delegation headed by the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, the relevant documents on the agreements reached would be signed.
