Developing cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan holds great importance – president

BAKU: Iran finds it important to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said during the reception of Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and his accompanying delegation in Tehran on October 14, Trend reports. According to him, the development of relations with Azerbaijan is very important for Iran. Iran welcomes the separation of rail and road routes between the two countries and wants to continue and develop cooperation in the fields of energy and agriculture. Iran is committed to the agreements reached in this field. Pezeshkian added that Azerbaijan's territorial integrity should be respected. Iran believes that the entry of other countries into the region will not benefit the countries of the region. Because the countries of the region can solve security and other issues by cooperating. This is Iran's principled policy, and it always adheres to it. Referring to the investigation of the criminal case of the individual who attacked the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran, the Iranian President stated that this issue will remain at the center of attention until the full implementation of legal processes. Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev stated at the meeting that Azerbaijan is ready to develop cooperation with Iran in the spheres of economy, trade, energy exchange, culture, transit, improvement of common road and railway lines, security, and defense. Mustafayev emphasized that Azerbaijan has no territorial claims to any country and does not accept claims of any country against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Regional problems can be solved through discussions between the countries of the region. He stated that Azerbaijan is ready to implement the agreements reached with Iran and invited the Iranian President to the 29th Conference of Partners of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Baku soon.
