Members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) at an extraordinary summit agreed to jointly restore Turkey, which suffered from devastating earthquakes in February 2023. Joint statement of the organization says.
In particular, the statement of the emergency summit of the organization was signed by the Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan (Turkey), Kassym-Jomart Tokayev (Kazakhstan), Sadyr Japarov (Kyrgyzstan), Shavkat Mirziyoyev (Uzbekistan) and Ilham Aliyev (Azerbaijan).
The extraordinary summit was held on the topic «Disaster Management and Humanitarian Aid» at the initiative of the head of Azerbaijan.
The declaration, signed by the five presidents, states that the OTS member countries express their solidarity with the Turkish people and government in their efforts to restore the country after the earthquakes.
In the statement, the members of the organization confirmed their readiness to continue providing humanitarian assistance to the disaster-affected regions when necessary.
Following the summit, three documents were signed: the Ankara Declaration of the Extraordinary OTS Summit, the decision to create a civil protection mechanism for OTS and the agreement on the establishment of a Turkic Investment Fund.
