Egyptian physician stops off Lachin in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh

LACHIN: Azerbaijan's Lachin district has organized the "Youth for a Green World" 5th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, with Sandy Salem, who traveled from Cairo, Egypt, at the invitation of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan, among the participants, Trend reports. Sandy Salem was born in Cairo to parents from Azerbaijan and Egypt in 2004. While at Lachin today, she took a tour of the city. Not only is Sandy a doctor by training, but she has also won an international beauty pageant and is the youngest peace ambassador for ICESCO. Speaking with Trend, Salem shared her impressions of Karabakh, noting that her heart is close to Azerbaijan. "I have traveled to Karabakh several times, but this is my first visit to Lachin. A month ago, I was in Shusha as a young peace ambassador representing Azerbaijan at the international 'By Youth for Youth' forum, organized by CESCO. Before that, I visited Shusha with other Azerbaijanis living abroad, organized by the Diaspora Committee," she said. Salem ex pressed that every time she sets foot on Azerbaijani land, she is filled with wonderful emotions and a deep sense of pride for her country. "I participated in an international beauty contest where contestants were asked to showcase their talents. I chose to perform our national dance to the 'Karabakh is Azerbaijan' composition. One of the jury members was Armenian, and he gave me a low score because I ended my performance by proclaiming 'Karabakh is Azerbaijan' and raising the Azerbaijani flag. At that time, there was a war going on, and when I was later asked if I would have done the same knowing there was an Armenian on the jury, I said I would have shouted 'Karabakh is Azerbaijan' a thousand times more," she added.
