Elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan will be held on March 26

On January 12, the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan decided to schedule the elections of deputies of the Mejlis of the seventh convocation, members of the velayat, etrap and city halk maslahaty of the fifth convocation, members of the Gengeshes of the ninth convocation for Sunday, March 26, 2023, the state information agency TDH reports .

The day before, the correspondents of "Chronicles of Turkmenistan" reported that on January 11, the census of voters began in Ashgabat.

The last time elections were held five years ago, on March 25, 2018. Then the CEC of Turkmenistan reported that 91.69% of voters had voted in the country. According to HT, the actual voter turnout was extremely low.

Deputies of the Mejlis are elected for a term of five years.
