Former presidential secretaries An Chong-bum and Jeong Ho-seong have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the widening scandal surrounding President Park Geun-hye's longtime confidant Choi Soon-sil.
An, the former senior secretary for policy coordination, is suspected of forcing local firms to contribute money to the Mir and K-Sports foundations.
Jeong, a former secretary in charge of the president's private affairs, is accused of leaking confidential presidential speeches and documents related to diplomacy, security and economy to Choi.
The prosecution arrested An for abuse of authority and attempted coercion and Jeong for leaking official secrets early on Sunday.
The court issued arrest warrants for the two former presidential aides, saying that their crimes have been verified, and recognized the cause and the need for the warrants.
