Ashgabat hosted the seminar on increasing the yield of potato in the conditions of our country. The event was organized under the USAID Competitiveness, Trade, and Jobs (CTJ) Project, implemented with the support of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIE).
The training was conducted by an expert from Uzbekistan - Durbek Khalikov, who has extensive experience in the agricultural sector. He talked about modern agricultural techniques of potato cultivation in the arid zone.
According to the expert, potato yield depends on many factors, i.e. weather conditions, tilth, the selected variety, competent protection from diseases and pests, optimal selection and regime of fertilization and many other factors.
Durbek Khalikov is a co-author of six varieties of Uzbek potatoes. According to the expert, Turkmen farmers have every opportunity to increase the production of this crop and export it in the future.
On February 12-14, the expert and seminar participants will visit fields in various regions of Turkmenistan.
