Session of authorised representatives of the Caspian States, dedicated to discussion of the project for Agreement on trade and economic cooperation, started in Ashgabat.
Two-days meeting was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Development and the State Department for Caspian Sea under the President of Turkmenistan. Heads and leading specialists of profile ministries and departments of the Caspian States including the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, the Organization for Trade and development of Islamic Republic of Iran, the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other, take part in the session.
It was mentioned during the session that project of the Agreement on trade and economic cooperation between Caspian States drafted by Turkmen side is aimed at activation of beneficial international trade and economic relations. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov uttered the initiative of establishment of this document and specific proposals on this account during IV Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States in Astrakhan (Russian Federation) in September 2014.
The volumes of the trade between the Caspian five are expressed in considerable indicators but, taking into account huge multidimensional reserve, it can be confidently stated that there are all opportunities for increase of economic cooperation and delivery to new quality level. Generally, it will also promote increasing of investment attractiveness of the Caspian region, its full-scale integration into the system on the world’s economy.
Subjects, related to the Caspian, occupy important place in foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan. In this direction, our country pursues the policy based on principles of peace-loving and good neighbourhood, consideration of national and common interests, equal and beneficial partnership. Taking active position in development of regional and international cooperation, Turkmenistan makes considerable contribution to consolidation of peace and stability, broad fruitful cooperation with the Caspian states, improvement of friendship and trust between the peoples, who are united by centuries-old historical and cultural relations.
During current meeting of the experts, special attention will be paid to further promotion of the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on establishment of permanent Caspian Economic Forum, which is summoned to become efficient ground for negotiations of government and business circles of the countries of the region and to promote establishment of fruitful relations with world business and competent international organizations.
