BAKU: The First International Symposium of Turkish Diaspora has started its work at Erzincan Binali Yildirim University located in the Turkish city of Erzincan, Trend reports, referring to the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora. According to information, the symposium was jointly organized by the Office for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) of the Republic of Trkiye, Erzincan Governorate, Erzincan Municipality, Erzincan Binali Yildirim University, and other partners. Along with the officials, cultural figures, sportsmen, and other representatives of the Diaspora participated in the symposium. The Rector of Erzincan Binali Yildirim University Prof. Akin Levent addressed the event with welcoming remarks. Head of YTB Abdullah Eren, Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydogdu, Chairman of Erzincan Municipality Bekir Aksu, and others addressed the event. Vice President of the Republic of Trkiye Cevdet Yilmaz participated in the symposium online. He noted that more than 7 million Turks live abroad. Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yildirim stated that the Turkish Diaspora is a huge force representing Turkic culture, values, and achievements around the world. 'Together we will take decisive steps and further strengthen the role of the Turkic world in the international arena,' he said. Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan Elshad Aliyev conveyed Chairman Fuad Muradov's greetings to the participants of the event. He noted that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to the unity and solidarity of Turkic states. The Deputy Chairman touched upon the goals set for the future of the Turkic world and achievements as a result of the targeted policy. The work done within the cooperation between the State Committee and the Organization of Turkic States was also noted. The symposium will conclude on October 16, 2024. Source: Trend News Agency
