Food Waste to Be Recycled for the First Time in Azerbaijan at the COP29 Event.

Baku: Food waste will be recycled for the first time in Azerbaijan at the COP29 event, Anar Zeynalov, head of the Division of Catering, Cleaning, and Waste Management at COP29, told journalists. Waste is being sorted and sent for recycling to the relevant organizations. At the same time, fertilizers obtained from the recycled food waste are delivered to the Baku Improvement Service, he added. According to Azeri-Press news agency, this initiative marks a significant step in waste management practices in Azerbaijan. The recycling effort at the COP29 event demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. By transforming food waste into fertilizers, the initiative aims to contribute to local environmental improvement efforts. The recycled fertilizers are expected to support the Baku Improvement Service in enhancing green spaces around the city. This process not only diverts waste from landfills but also provides a practical resource for urban beautification and agricultural use. The effort aligns with broader environmental goals discussed at COP29, showcasing Azerbaijan's proactive approach in addressing waste management challenges.
