For the first time in droves

For the first time in the Dashoguz velayat, winter garlic is being planted in large numbers. 780 hectares have been allocated for cultivation in the northern region of the country. Local farmers expect to collect at least 80 centners from each of them in the future and increase the volume of garlic production to 6240 tons. The largest land area for planting crops has been allocated in the etrap named after Gurbansoltan-eje, where by today it has already been placed on more than 110 hectares out of a total of 550 hectares allocated.

According to experts, garlic is quite acceptable for mass production in local weather and climatic conditions. It is known that it is a culture with increased cold resistance and with proper care, including proper shelter, it can painlessly endure the winter. It is believed that planting winter garlic is best done before mid-autumn, so that it has time to form a strong root system, but at the same time does not start growing.

Local farmers, in order to achieve the intended results, tried to select the most optimal land plots and early-ripening varieties, which are characterized by high yield and disease resistance.

It is known that the birthplace of garlic is Central Asia, on the territory of which, including within our country, it was cultivated. For example, in the Dashoguz velayat, farmers have been cultivating spring garlic for their needs for many decades, so they have accumulated considerable experience in cultivating this crop. In recent years, they have shown great interest in the cultivation of early garlic, considering its production to be highly profitable. Especially in the etrap named after Gurbansoltan-eje, whose farmers are famous for growing various fruits and vegetables.

The production of winter garlic in large volumes is intended to contribute to the successful solution of the tasks set by the state for the domestic agro-industrial complex to significantly increase the volume of agricultural production, including by increasing the return of fertile lands.
