Ashgabat hosted a round table on the implications of Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization for local women entrepreneurs.
The event brought together employees of ministries and departments, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, as well as media representatives. Having familiarized themselves with the process of accession and admission to the World Trade Organization on the example of individual countries, the participants also reviewed existing agreements in this area.
It should be noted that at the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires, 118 member countries of the organization signed the Declaration on the Empowerment of Women in Trade. The document prescribes the mechanisms of the WTO in order to increase the participation of women in trade. The actions listed in the declaration are designed to provide more jobs for women and, ultimately, stimulate economic growth. The document will also serve to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The World Trade Organization is a platform for discussing global problems and prospects for the development of world trade, developing new rules for international trade. The WTO trading system plays an important role in building and building confidence in the principles of free trade. Since its inception, the WTO has served as a forum for successful negotiations to open markets in telecommunications, information technology equipment and financial services.
