On October 3, Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Iranian Hossein Amir Abdollahian discussed bilateral cooperation, the development of the situation in Afghanistan and the upcoming summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) by telephone, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported .
Meredov urged his colleague to continue working on issues that were discussed during the meeting of the heads of the two states in Dushanbe on September 17.
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ebrahim Raisi met in Tajikistan during a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The heads of state discussed the possibilities of resuming supplies of Turkmen gas to Iran and expanding transport and transit cooperation.
The parties agreed to expedite the holding of a joint commission in Tehran and discuss cooperation in the spheres of transport and trade.
The Turkmen Foreign Ministry does not report on the talks.
