At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on December 20, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered the creation of a department for foreign economic cooperation at the Foreign Ministry.
The list of tasks of the department will include the preparation of proposals for the study and implementation of international projects, monitoring the activities of bilateral intergovernmental commissions on economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations already exists in Turkmenistan, whose tasks, as indicated on the official website of the Ministry, include ensuring the observance of state interests in the foreign market in accordance with international treaties.
The Foreign Ministry also opens the archive department of the Diplomatic Service, which should always be ready to issue various documents on the international relations of Turkmenistan upon the request of state bodies.
In addition, it was decided to create a special training center in the structure of the Institute of International Relations (IMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they will train specialists in the most topical aspects of Turkmen diplomacy, to which the head of state referred the transport and energy sectors.
