Former Vice Culture Minister Summoned for Questioning

The prosecution has summoned former Vice Culture Minister Kim Chong for questioning over suspicions that he assisted Choi Soon-sil’s illict business activities.

Arriving at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office Wednesday morning, Kim told reporters that he will thoroughly respond to questions to shed light on the allegations.

Kim is suspected of exerting his influence to assist the business activities of K-Sports Foundation, which the controversial friend of the president is suspected to have exercised control overolled.

There has been testimony that Kim asked a Culture Ministry official to accompany K-Sports Foundation staff in pursuing the establishment of a sports center by demanding additional funding from conglomerates, including Lotte Group.
