Government visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Qatar on March 15 to give new dynamics to bilateral cooperation

First official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the State of Qatar in October 2010 and first official visit of Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani in March 2016 were an important milestones of intensification of Turkmen � Qatar cooperation based on the principles of equality, trust and mutual benefit.

Consolidation of such cooperation on bilateral and multilateral level under largets international organizations including the United Nations, Islamic Cooperation Organization, Non-Alignment Movement and other competent structures takes place in the context of activation of Turkmenistan partnership with Arab world countries. Establishment of friendship relations and cooperation with these countries is one of the priorities of foreign policy doctrine of our state.

Having common or similar visions on current subjects of international range of problems, Turkmenistan and Qatar stand for continuation of constructive political dialog expanding the contacts under foreign policy departments.

All recent years, the State of Qatar renders comprehensive support to promotion of important global initiatives given by our country including the proposals on provision of energy security and intensification of international partnership in transport sphere, which were uttered during the UN General Assembly. As is known, the projects for formation of ramified transport communications infrastructure, lobbied by Turkmen side, are aimed at consolidation and development of beneficial trade and economic relations. Particularly, this is about railway transcontinental main line North � South, which is to be a bridge between Europe and Asia and to open new opportunities for closer economic cooperation with the Middle East countries including Qatar.

Important role in activation of Turkmen � Qatar cooperation is assigned to the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Partnership, owing to which number of documents on key vectors of bilateral cooperation were adopted.

Taking into account the perspectives of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Qatar, which have richest hydrocarbon reserves, issues of cooperation in oil and gas, oil processing spheres and chemical industry will be an urgent subject of forthcoming talks. Trade, transport and communication, high technologies, financial sphere and investments, education, tourism, construction, first of all of large sport facilities, are outlined among priority spheres of mutually beneficial partnership.

Turkmenistan, actively preparing for V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in September of this year, is interested in cooperation with Qatar, which already had an experience in organization of XV Asian Games in Doha in 2016 and currently prepares to 2022 Football World Cup.

Great attention is going to be paid to discussion of cultural and humanitarian matters as important factor of closing the peoples, mutual enrichment of cultures and farther development of friendship and cooperation relations.

It is expected that large package of documents on expansion of legal framework of intergovernmental cooperation would be signed by the outcomes of High Summit in Doha.
