Governor Beglov: “They plan to build a subway in Ashgabat”

The Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov spoke about his trip to Turkmenistan, where he took part in the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the country's independence. This was reported on the website of the TV channel "St. Petersburg".

During the visit, the official held meetings with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov , Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov .

According to Beglov, the tasks of the visit included economic ones. In particular, they are planning to build a metro in Ashgabat and asked for advice from specialists from St. Petersburg.

They also talked about the opening of Trading Houses in St. Petersburg in Turkmenistan and Turkmenistan in St. Petersburg.

It is reported that companies from St. Petersburg continue to work in the field of road infrastructure, participate in the creation of green areas and protective structures against mudflows. In addition, the issue of participation of construction companies in the construction of Ashgabat City is being discussed.

At the moment, a company from St. Petersburg "Vozrozhdenie" is actively working in Turkmenistan , participating in the construction of road infrastructure, as well as mudflow protection structures.

For the first time, they started talking about the construction of a metro in Ashgabat in 2014. Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov appealed to the chairman of the board of the construction association "Interstroymontazh" Vladimir Petruk with a request to consider the issue of building a subway in Ashgabat. Petruk said that the issue of building the metro "will be studied in detail by leading experts."

In May 2020, Interbudmontazh presented a project for the construction of the Ashgabat Metro at the White City - Ashgabat exhibition . The representative of the association, Alexander Kokun, said that the Japanese company Sumitomo, the Japanese Metro Association and the German consulting group K2, which worked out the engineering capabilities of the metro in the seismological zone, were involved in the development of the idea and the technological part of the project. As planned by the developers, the Ashgabat Metro will connect the capital with Ashgabat City.
